Finding Talent Through PresetShare

cavyion

PresetShare is a free platform where producers and sound designers share presets. I joined in April 2023 and started uploading my own Vital presets a year later.

I've uploaded 21 presets. I keep most of my good ones to myself, but those 21 have 22,500 downloads, 2,200 likes, and 2,700 followers.

I make all my presets with Vital, a free spectral warping wavetable synthesizer. I love freeware. Always have. PresetShare gave those presets an audience and gave other producers a way to find my work.

The site also works as a discovery tool. People find a preset, decide they like your sound, and sometimes reach out. I have received more messages there from people making music than on most social platforms.

Dante found me on the platform and reached out. That conversation became a working relationship. Beomical came into my orbit through the same platform. Those two connections are why I still upload even when I could keep every preset to myself.

He found me first. Usually it goes the other way, but I'm not complaining. He sent me his tracks and I liked how clean and polished they sounded. His music aims straight at the mainstream, and he is not shy about wanting a large audience.

Dante knows what he wants and is working toward it.

Beomical helped me on Stars, and I learned a lot from that session, especially about low-end frequencies. I had wanted to get better at that for a while. His own music is heavy EDM with a lot of anime influence, so we come from different ends of the spectrum.

Working outside my lane changed how I listened to the low end. If you like large, cinematic EDM with anime influence, his SoundCloud has more of it.

Both of them are from Korea, which still trips me out a little. PresetShare connected a Filipino bedroom producer with two Korean artists, and now we're making music together. You can find my presets on PresetShare.
